WE ARE BACK FOR 2022
SUN 4TH DEC
Tinakori Rd & Hill St, Thorndon
The Thorndon Fair is a huge street fair that highlights the charms of historic Thorndon.
Over 20,000 people and 250 stallholders gather on the first Sunday of December every year.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A RANGE OF STALLS
Find a great Xmas gifts for family, friends, or maybe for you! Our quality stallholders come from all over the country, so you're sure to find gifts that are as unique as their recipients.
FOOD FOR FOODIES & FAMILIES
Wellington is known for it's food, so as you'd expect, we have a variety of yummy bites and refreshments on offer to keep the whole family happy.
The Thorndon Fair has run since 1977. It was set up by the Thorndon Society and then gifted to Thorndon School in 1983. The School has been involved since 1977.
GOLD COIN DONATION
Entry to the Thorndon Fair is by gold coin donation at the gates.
The support shown by fair goers is hugely appreciated by our entire school community.
The School appreciates donations from the local community to its book stall. Quality books (eg children's books, summer reading, but not old/specialist books) can be dropped to the School office at 20 Turnbull St, Thorndon, Wellington from mid-Nov.
Over 150 people from the school community volunteer on the day, and a Fair Committee works year round to bring the fair Wellington knows and loves to the streets of historic Thorndon.
New volunteers are always welcome.
For more information, please see the Thorndon School Website
The Fair operates in Tinakori Rd (Bowen St to Harriet St) and Hill St (Tinakori Rd to Selwyn Tce).
We are also kindly given space in the carparks of Premier House and Thorndon Dental.
The main Fair entrances are at either end of Tinakori Rd, or just up from Parliament on Hill St. The map on this page is to a custom Google map of the Fair.
The Fair would not be possible without the generous support of the Thorndon Community, and it's people.
We wish to thank the following people and organisations for their support.
Handy Rentals; Wilson Parking; The Shepherds' Arms; Premier House; Wellington City Council; Thorndon Dental Surgery; Onvideo Media; ASB; New World Thorndon; residents and businesses in Hill Street, Tinakori Rd and nearby streets; family and friends of Thorndon School; and all our fairgoers.
