The Thorndon Fair is a huge street fair that highlights the charms of historic Thorndon.
Over 20,000 people and 250 stallholders gather on the first Sunday of December every year.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A RANGE OF STALLS
Find a great Xmas gifts for family, friends, or maybe for you! Our quality stallholders come from all over the country, so you're sure to find gifts that are as unique as their recipients.
FUN ZONE
This once a year event, is your chance to hang out at the PMs place! Check out Premier House grounds for food, stalls and activities for all ages.
FOOD FOR FOODIES & FAMILIES
Wellington is known for it's food, so as you'd expect, we have a variety of yummy bites and refreshments on offer to keep the whole family happy.
FAIR HISTORY
The Thorndon Fair has run since 1977. It was set up by the Thorndon Society and then gifted to Thorndon School in 1983. The School has been involved since 1977.
GOLD COIN DONATION
Entry to the Thorndon Fair is by gold coin donation at the gates.
The support shown by fair goers is hugely appreciated by our entire school community.
BOOK DONATIONS
The School appreciates donations from the local community to its book stall. Quality books (eg children's books, summer reading, but not old/specialist books) can be dropped to the School office at 20 Turnbull St, Thorndon, Wellington from mid-Nov.
VOLUNTEERS
Over 150 people from the school community volunteer on the day, and a Fair Committee works year round to bring the fair Wellington knows and loves to the streets of historic Thorndon.

LOCATION
The Fair operates in Tinakori Rd (Bowen St to Harriet St) and Hill St (Tinakori Rd to Selwyn Tce).
We are also kindly given space in the carparks of Premier House and Thorndon Dental.
The main Fair entrances are at either end of Tinakori Rd, or just up from Parliament on Hill St. The map on this page is to a custom Google map of the Fair.
